スチュアート・マクハリーは、ロンドン南東部のグリニッジ出身のアーティストです。
ロンドンのセントラル・セント・マーチンズでファインアート、ペインティングを学ぶ。
画家、アートディレクター、イラストレーターである彼は、人生の大半を商業的な仕事に費やし、過去10年間はより真剣に絵画に取り組んできた。
NEACを含む数多くのグループ展に出展し、Andelli Artでは個展を開催している。
彼の作品は世界中のコレクターにコレクションされている。
日本での初個展となる本展はタイトルの通り人物の横顔や側面像を中心に構成されています。
ポーズをとっていない無防備なトップレスの大柄な人物を用いることで官能やエロティシズム、
キッチュさを回避しておりこの手法は、生々しく抽象的でありながら、鑑賞者が自由に解釈できる余地を残しています。

Stuart McHaffie is an artist from Greenwich in southeast London.
He studied fine art and painting at Central Saint Martins in London.
As a painter, art director, and illustrator, he has spent much of his life working
in commercial jobs and has focused more seriously on painting in the past decade.
He has exhibited in numerous group shows, including the NEAC, and has held solo exhibitions at Andelli Art.
His works are collected by collectors all over the world.
This exhibition, which marks his first solo exhibition in Japan, is centered around profiles
and side views of people, as the title suggests.
By using large, topless, and unguarded people who are not posing, he avoids sensuality, eroticism, and kitsch.
This technique is vividly abstract while leaving room for viewers to interpret freely.
