■ステイトメント■
２０１６年から具象的な絵を書き始めた。
その際に決めていたのは「描かれた場所の地域性や特徴が表れていること」と「それでいてモチーフ自体は他所にもあるあまり珍しくないもの」を描くことだった。
この条件のもと、最初に築年数の長いアパートやセメント瓦の家、スナックなどの入ったテナントビルなどの建築物をモチーフに選んだ。
沖縄的な特徴がありながらあまり注目のされないモチーフだったことと、今のうちに資料を集め作品化しておかないとあまり遠くない将来、
建て替えや取り壊しが始まるだろうと予想してのことだった。
その予想が当たったか、コロナが過ぎた後の景気の回復を見越してか、２０２０年頃から少々急ぐかのように古い建築物の建て替えや取り壊しが始まった。
ふと気がつくと前はあった建物が消え、またふとすればそこに新しいマンションやホテル、コインパーキングが立っているという具合だ。
そんな景色の移ろいから影響され、今年になってからは描くモチーフにそうしたホテルやコインパーキングも選び始めるようになった。
沖縄独自のセメント瓦や本土復帰前のアメリカの影響下で建てられたコンクリート建築を取り壊し建てられる
新しい観光向けのホテルや全国規模の有料駐車場が、今日的で沖縄的なモチーフに順当だと考えたからだ。
I began to draw figurative paintings from 2016. At that time,
I decided to draw works that "express the regional characteristics and features of the depicted location"
and "at the same time, depict motifs that are not particularly rare even in other places."
Under this condition, I first chose buildings such as apartments with a long history,
cement tile houses, and tenant buildings containing snack bars as motifs.
This was because they had Okinawa characteristics, but were not particularly attention-grabbing motifs,
so I wanted to collect information and create works now, because in the not-too-distant future,
these buildings may be demolished or rebuilt.
Whether my prediction was accurate or not, or perhaps because I anticipated the recovery of the economy
after the COVID-19 pandemic, demolition and rebuilding of old buildings seemed to have become somewhat
urgent since around 2020. Before I knew it, the buildings that used to exist had disappeared,
and new apartments, hotels, and paid parking lots stood there.
Influenced by such changing scenery, I have started to choose motifs such as hotels and
paid parking lots to draw since this year.
This is because I think that demolishing the Okinawa unique cement tile and concrete buildings built
under the influence of the United States before reversion,
and building new tourist hotels and nationwide paid parking lots is reasonable,
and is a today's Okinawa unique motif.
自2016年起开始画具象画。
当时我决定画出“表现所绘场所的地域性和特点”以及“同时，画出即使在其他地方也不算稀罕的题材”的作品。
在这样的前提下，我首先选择了具有悠久历史的公寓、水泥瓦屋、租赁店等建筑作为题材。
因为这些建筑物具有冲绳特有的特点，但却并不是那么引人注目的题材，因此我想在现在收集资料并创作出作品，因为不久的将来，这些建筑物可能会被拆除或重建。
无论我的预测是否准确，或者是因为预计到疫情过后经济的恢复，从2020年开始，拆除和重建旧建筑物似乎有些急促了。
不经意间，曾经存在的建筑物消失了，而新的公寓、酒店和投币式停车场屹立在那里。
受到这种景象的影响，我从今年开始选择画这些酒店和付费停车场等作品。因为我认为，拆除那些在美国占领前建造的沖绳特有的水泥瓦和混凝土建筑，
建造新的旅游酒店和全国性的收费停车场是合乎情理的，是当下的沖绳特有题材。
